Peanut Butter Appreciation

Since yesterday was National Peanut Butter Day (March 1st), I had to celebrate in a small way. I ate peanut butter from the jar all day. Nothing crazy, but doable during midterms week.

Midterms also happen to be the reason I haven’t been seen around here in a while. Writing still. Just somewhere academic that is not for the blog.

Yesterday, I decided to determine my love for peanut butter. BuzzFeed has a wonky quiz that I’ve used to scientifically measure my obsession with peanut butter.  There’s 58 items on their list. I’m supposed to check off the ones that I’ve purposefully eaten with peanut butter.

How much do I love peanut butter?

Here’s what I’ve actually tried on their list:

  • Flour Tortillas
  • Actual Peanuts
  • Pear Slices
  • Jelly
  • Apple Slices
  • Banana
  • Celery
  • Chocolate
  • Bread Slices
  • Toasted Bread
  • Tomato Slices
  • Honey
  • Pancakes
  • Straight From The Jar
  • Carrots
  • Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Graham Crackers
  • Hard Pretzels
  • Potato Chips
  • Bacon
  • French Fries
  • Cake
  • Brownie
  • English Muffin
  • Raisins
  • Saltine Crackers
  • Waffles
  • French Toast
  • S’Mores
  • Donuts
  • Coffee
  • Nutella
  • Ice Cream
  • Ritz Crackers
  • Oreos
  • Yogurt
  • Apple Pie
  • Plantain Chips
  • Oatmeal
  • Pop Tarts
  • Rice Krispies
  • Another Type of Peanut Butter
  • Strawberries
  • Marshmallow Fluff
  • Pickles
  • Pizza
  • Animal Crackers
  • Hamburger

The following are items on their list that I have NOT tried:

  • Soft Pretzels
  • Hard Boiled Egg
  • Scrambled Eggs
  • Fried Chicken
  • Grilled Cheese
  • Hot Dog
  • Applesauce
  • Instant Ramen
  • Mac and Cheese

Here’s what BuzzFeed had to say about my weird PB combinations:

You put peanut butter on 48 out of 58 items on this list!

LEVEL 3 – You have an extreme love for peanut butter that knows no boundaries! Every food is a potential vehicle for peanut butter delivery. You care not what others think is “uncouth.” You can’t hear their haughty whispers above the sounds of peanut butter being mixed with various foods and drinks. When they make a movie about your life someday, “Peanut Butter” will be one of the first characters listed in the credits. Because peanut butter has played a very important role in your life.

Here’s some other things I’ve put peanut butter on while we’re on the subject:

  • Quinoa
  • Wheat Berries
  • Bulgur Wheat
  • Texturized Vegetable Protein
  • Black Beans
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Baked Potatoes
  • Coconut Chips
  • Rice
  • Dates (I tell everyone to try this.)
  • Dried Cranberries (Individually dipped them in peanut butter. Why? IDK.)
  • Blueberries (I literally mixed blueberries and PB in a bowl.)
  • Tofu
  • Cocoa Powder (Tried to make the worlds laziest “truffles.” Okay man…)
  • Walnuts, Pecans, Hazelnuts, etc.
  • Face

If you don’t think any of this counts as obsession, I used to carry around a full jar of crunchy peanut butter in high school. I pulled the jar out of my bag at lunch every day. School, work, travel. Peanut butter has a special place in my heart, so it deserves its own holiday.

If anyone has combinations that I should try, let me know!
